Net Party on March 29 at the Shangrila

Late breaking news!

Earlier it was announced that the celebration for the fifth year anniversary of Internet in the Philippines will be held at the Galleria on March 29. There has been a change in venue. The party will be held at the


    Watering Hole, Shangri-la Plaza
    Mandaluyong City (beside Megamall)
    7 PM March 29, 1999.

While it will be an informal gathering, a programme has been organized and awards will be given out. Among the organizers are Miguel Paraz and Franchette Soriano of Iphil Communications and Jim Ayson. Mosaic Communications is one of the sponsors of the said event.

To spice up the Fifth Year Anniversary of Philippine Internet Celebration, awards will be given out to people and companies you choose. Please send your vote before March 29 to votes@internet.org.ph, and a short reason why you voted for them.

The awards are:

  • PERSON OF THE YEAR
    The person you think made the most impact on the Philippine Internet. The achiever who contributed the most to Philippine cyberspace.
     
  • MOST INTERESTING / INTRIGUING PERSON
    The person you see online and want to meet in person the most.
     
  • TECHIE OF THE YEAR
    The person who has the most influence in technical matters, the most knowledgeable of them all.
     
  • COMPANY OF THE YEAR
    The commercial company who has done the most for Philippine Internet, or made use of it the best way.
     
  • ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR
    The non-profit organization who has done the most for Philippine Internet, or made use of it the best way.
     
  • VIRTUAL COMMUNITY OF THE YEAR - DISCUSSION GROUPS
    For the mailing list, newsgroup, or web forum that has the most impact or sense of community.
     
  • VIRTUAL COMMUNITY OF THE YEAR - CHAT
    For the IRC channel, ICQ community, or telnet- based virtual community that has the most impact or sense of community.
     
  • IT HEARTTHROB / CYBERCRUSH NG BAYAN
    Who appeals to you, online, the most?
