Telecommunications and IT bills filed

When both the Congress' and the Senate's 11th session opened, a total of 32 bills on telecommunications and IT-related bills were filed by the Senate and Congress, among them, Senator Sergio Osmeña III, Senators Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Vicente Sotto III, Ramon Magsaysay Jr. and Loren Legarda-Leviste, and Congressman Leandro Verceles Jr.

The bills are:

1. SENATE BILL (SB) 164, An Act to Prohibit and Penalize Telecommunication Fraud and the Destruction of Telecommunication Facilities, authored by Senator Sergio Osmeña III.
2. SB 173, An Act Further Restricting the Transfer of Telecommunication Franchise Legislative, Amending for the Purpose Section 23, Article VIII of Republic Act No. 7925, Otherwise Known as the Public Telecommunication Act of the Philippines of 1995, authored by Senator Sergio Osmeña III.
3. SB 275, National Telecommunications Commission Reorganization Act of 1998, authored by Senator Sergio Osmeña III.
4. SB 341, An Act Providing Access of Telecommunication Systems Accessible to the Hearing-Impaired and Speech-Impaired, authored by Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
5. SB 419, Philippine Telecommunications Service Standard Act, authored by Senator Vicente Sotto III.
6. SB 672, Telecommunications Economic Opportunity Act, authored by Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
7. SB 680, The Wire, Electronic and Oral Communications Interception Act, authored by Senator Miriam Defensor- Santiago.
