The City of San Pablo is located south of Manila, Philippines. The city traditionally celebrates its fiesta every 15th of January, coinciding with the feast of its patron saint, St. Paul the First Hermit. Nine days before, San Pableņos prepare for the fiesta with a novena to St. Paul.

A few years back, San Pableņos have added a nine-day cultural show to honor the patron saint. These shows are especially prepared by pupils and students of the different schools in San Pablo to treat their fellow San Pableņos with the beautiful songs and dances of the Filipinos to remind us of our rich cultural heritage.

Another added attraction to the San Pablo City fiesta celebration is the street dancing (ala Mardi Gras) on the major thoroughfares of the city participated in by students of both private and public schools of the city, as well as those from city's different organizations.

The street dancing, float competition, drum and lyre competition, and the search for the Mutya ng San Pablo were initiated by the San Pablo Cocofestival Committee, founded by Mr. Vergel Cosico. The street dancing began in 1996 and has now become a tradition with all San Pableņos coming to the city plaza to watch this once -a-year event.
