I-HISTORY OF BARANGAY SAN ISIDRO
Long time ago, in the legendary mountain
of Susong Dalaga, bounded by the provinces of
Batangas, Queson and Laguna, situated on the
eastern part of San Pablo City was a remote barrio
called SAN ISIDRO or "BALAGBAG".
Barangay San Isidro is bounded on the
northern part by barangay santisimo rosario; on
the south by barangay san pedro and lalig, tiaong,
quezon; on the eastern part by barangay san
antonio, and on the western part by lipa city,
province of batangas. SAN ISIDRO territorial
boundary covered four rivers such as TALUTUANAN,
GUGULMIN, MALAUNOD, and the PARAGUSAN river that
vertically divided the barrio that's why the place
was called "BALAGBAG". During that time, very few
inhabited the place because there was no access
road going to the city and most of its area was
grassy and wooded. As time passed by, the natives
gradually cleared the wooded area and planted it
with COCONUT, PALAY BANANA and various kind of
vegetables. Crops grew abundantly because of the
good quality of soil and opulent supply of water.
After WORLD WAR II, the earth fill road
connecting the barrios in the southern part of SAN PABLO CITY
such as Atisan, Santisimo Rosario, SAN ISIDRO, Sta. Maria, Soledad were opened. With
the opening of an access road to the city, migrants
from the provinces of Bicol and Visayas came and
transport of product bacame easier and faster
going to the public market or even in manila and
some neighboring municipalities. A public
elementary school building was established on
march 1957 to give opportunity to the residents to
have formal education. In 1970, the barangay road
in the area was once an afforested and
a secluded area. 1972, a large portion of land of
San Isidro was reduced because of the separation
of Barangay Atisan from its domain.
In 1998, San Isidro has a total population
of 2,300 with a total household population of 400.
In 1995, a multi-purpose hall was constructed
which included the barangay hall, health center and
day care center. During the term of Cong. Florante
L. Aquino, Representative of 3rd District of Laguna,
the road connecting the barangays in the
southeastern part of San Pablo City was concreated.
This was considered a major development in year
2000 because the travel going to the City became
faster and more convinient. The population of
Barangay San Isidro grew simultaneously when
people from the city and other places bought
parcels of land in the area.
Another development in the area was the
establishment of STALDER LABORATORIES on november
2001. Barangay Sta. Maria traditionally celebrates
their barrio fiesta on May 29 with every houses
prepared delicious cuisine for relatives and visitors.
They put banners along the road as sign of their
festivities and band parade playing bouncy tunes
and a procession was held in gratitude to the whole
year blessings that they recieved. In the year 2001, the
barrio fiesta was adjusted to May 31 as requested
by their parish priest. Additional highlights of their
celebration is the procession that was held in the
afternoon and stage shows in the evening with
dance and singing contest. A gay beauty contest
was also held which added to thier festivities. |
