THE SAN PABLO CITY NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
In 1969, the late Councilor Jose C. Reyes filed a resolution for the establishment of a public high school. He knew that time would come when a high school diploma would be a passport even to the lowly job of a janitor. He knew that the leaps and bound of progress would necessitate higher qualifications if one hoped to land a good job. And he knew, too, that the poor would be at the losing end of this so-called progress because they could not afford education beyond grade 6 in as much as the tuition fee for secondary education was not within their reach.
And also Councilor Reyes dreamed of the creation of a public high school. He fought for its approval in the City Board. But he died without seeing his dream come true.
Yes, he died. But his death gave life to an unseen force. His spirit ressurected in the heart of a young man named Cesar P. Dizon.
Together with Superintendent Concepcion D. Licsi and Miss Felisa Almagro, Division Math-Science Supervisor, Mayor Cesar P. Dizon made a study, submitted the same to the City Board, conducted public hearings and sought all means to have said project approved..
And so, on March 3, 1969, Ordinance No.20 was unanimously approved and the San Pablo City High School was bor. Mrs. Dionisia C. de Roma, Division Music Supervisor, was made in-charge of the school until incumbent, Mr. rodolfo Alvero Viray was made a full-pledge pricipal on January 3, 1971.
Befor the operation of City High more than one hundred teachers\applicants were screened. They were given oral and written test. And among the succesful applicants were:

12.Aurora Devanadera - CorneliaA six-room builiding was erected at the Central School where the first 352 students were accepted.
From 1971 to 1994 Mr. Viray nurtured and guided the students and teachers in all academic and extra-curricular activities. Consequently, the teanwork of the teachers, students and administration bore fruits as evidence by the countless plaques, medals and tropies received in local, regional and national competitions. Indeed, the City High was in the forefront of every local contests.
Meanwhile, the P.T.A. was strengtened and made a vital partner in the growth of the school. Among the active presidents were Mr. Nicasio Sadsad, Mr. Julian de Castro, Mr. Adelo Agbon, Mr. Amador Tan, and Mr. Clemento Tenorio. The P.T.A. officials unselfishly lent their helping hands in all affairs of the school particularly during convocation, and graduation exercises.
And the school progressed, cleanliness and beautification contest were launched. Discipline was imposed on all concerned. Clubs and student organizations were encouraged but hazing during inititations were banned and offenders, punished.
In as much as problems grow with the growth of the school, the principal appointed teachers to key positions to assist him in the school administraion, among them were:

In 1990 - the principal in collaboration with Mrs. Zenaida Cuenca proposed a resolution to the Sangguniang Panlunsod requesting the transfer of land title of the City High from the City High Government to the San Pablo City High School in order to avail the P2.5 million Secondary School Development Program of the DECS. The resolution was unanimously approved by the City Board and the City Mayor Zacarias Ticzon. Hence, thge City High is among the very few schools in the whole country with its own land title.
In 1994, Mayor Vicente Amanterequested Rodolfo A. Viray to join his administration in strengthening the City Cooperative Office in order to promote a cooperative community and to improve the economic well-being of the contituents of the City of San Pablo. Mr. Viray obliged and the following school year, Mr. Severino C. Buno served as the OIC from 1994 - 1995.
Mr. Luis B. Mendoza was appointed principal in 1995. It was during his time when the Special Science Curriculum of the school year was created. After 2 years, he moved to another school in Batangas.
Then there was unprecedented increase in enrollment. The San Pablo City National High School could no longer accommodate all the students coming from eighty barangays. This problem was solved through the assistance of the local government. Schools were brought by the government to the barrios. Five sattelite schools were established: Del Remedio Annex, Dolores Annex, Sto. Angel Annex, Stmo. Rosario Annex and Annex V. These annexes started to operate in the school year 1995 - 1996 in five different barangays to unload the burden of parents concerning transportation expenses.
Mrs. Marilou D. Bicomong assumed office as the school principal in 2002. During her term, four additional annexes were added which included San Isidro Annex, San Vicente Annex, San Jose Annex and San Nicolas Annex. Teresita S. Lazaro Building (TSL Building) come to reality through the support of Hon. Teresita S. Lazaro, Governor of Laguna, particularly in 2004. In 2007, The Kelly - barker building, through the "Samahan ng mga Filipino - Abroad" was likewise constructed. Mrs. Bicomong was then promoted as Education Supervisor I in Mathematics in August 20, 2007.
On August 21, 2007, Miss Muriel Andrea V. Maghirang, Education Supervisor I, TLE - EPP, started to manage the school as OIC anchored by the department heads in full force. Mrs. Abdolla Borce - Filipino, Mrs. Aida Orosa - English, Mrs. Michaela V. Candelaria - Science, Mrs. Ma. Filipina M. Drio - Mathematics, Mrs. loida B. Dantic, Araling Panlipunan, Mrs. Emerita C. Perez - TLE, Mrs. Adora T. Avenio - MAPEH and Mrs. Lina Laguras - Values Education.
The School has 2 976 students with 95 teachers, 9 Department Heads and 1 School Head. Under Miss Maghirang's leadership, the entire school has been completely getting a total rejuvenation from the teacher's and student's academic and co - curricular performances to the social and physical environment. More and more students have been reaping countless awards for the school and the chool vicinity has been improving tremendously as students and teachers stand focused and bonded to became the most functional leader school in the San Pablo City Division.
