Sources of income of the people of Liliw are agricultural and agro-industries, manufacturing and other services. Agricultural activities include rice farming, fruits like lanzones, coffee, root-crops and vegetables especially tomatoes. However, the major means of livelihood of the people at present are cottage industries such as shoes and slippers making, uraro biscuits and other delicacies and lambanog distillery.

Commercial activities in the municipality are large sources of livelihood in the municipality. The abundance of cottage industries influence the growth of commercial and trading activities of the populace. Most of the products manufactured in the area are also displayed and sold in the trade fair center, making the center famous for this products.

The extent of business/commercial establishment are categorized under 27 types of commercial activities. These categories are broadly grouped under six (6) major economic activities such as retail-merchandising, service firms, recreational facilities, agricultural support facilities and financing intitutions.

There are two (2) banks, the Liliw Rural Bank and Rural Bank of Magdalena, which cater to financial requirements of the municipality. There are branch offices of these banks located at other sites.

There are 21 servicing firms offering services like eateries/refreshments, beauty shops, tailoring/dress shops and welding shops.

There are 148 establishments carrying out retail business in the municipality, majority are sari-sari stores.

Farming is a major source of income of the populace. There are three (3) agricultural supply stores and two (2) feeds and veterinary drug supply stores.
