Arturo D. Brion

Secretary Arturo D. Brion of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is also one of our city’s prides in the political discipline. A well trained and experienced lawyer who topped the 1974 bar exam as he finished his Bachelor of Laws at the Ateneo de Manila University as Cum Laude.

Born on the 29th day of December 1946 in Manila to Edon B. Brion and Laura S. Dizon., this renowned man grew up on a serene environment of San Pablo City where he took most of his life ranging from his elementary days, secondary life and part of his tertiary studies. Aside from being a lawyer graduate, he also took Bachelor of Arts, Major in Mathematics at San Pablo Colleges but he was destined to go beyond numbers so he shifted his career to be a public servant.

As DOLE Secretary, he had accomplished things that really help other San Pableños like him. He gives employment to his fellows that really boost our city’s economy. He also conducts some livelihood programs and seminars that promote entrepreneurship skills not only in our city but all over the Philippines.

He briefly states his vision for public sector unionism on his paper, “Public Sector Unionism – A Proposed Configuration” was that unity in this sector still remains to be a dream that sooner or later it will become relevant and will come to pass.

On the other hand, he is guided by two standards in dealing with the private sector unionism that he now regulates. He believes that the standards of balance and fairness, if properly and steadfastly applied, cannot but lead to the industrial and harmony the Philippines needs in its quest for economic stability and progress.

At this point, he continues to pursue his vision and remains to serve the public to whatever extent he can.
