Rekindling the Filipino Spirit

The Philippines celebrates its centenary year as a nation. As such, the whole country commemorates significant events in its history which all lead the Philippines to become the first constitutional democracy in Asia.

We celebrate

  • the culmination of nearly four centuries of struggle for nationhood
  • the Philippine Revolution of 1896
  • the declaration of Philippine Independence on June 12, 1898
  • the January 23, 1899 ratification of a Philippine Constitution by the Malolos Congress

The Philippine Centennial celebrates the emancipation of the Filipino from the tyranny of colonialism and his transformation into an independent and proud citizen of the nation and the world.

The Centennial celebrates the history of the Filipino's struggle and solidarity. The story of the birth and growth of his race. A reminder to every Filipino to perpetuate his heritage.

Let us join the festivities and activities to commemorate the events. Let us rekindle the Filipino spirit by looking at the national heritage. Let us relive century-old events that triggered the revolution. Let us look at how the revolution aroused the passions of the Filipino people. Let us cherish the Philippines' finest moments.

Let us all proudly celebrate the Philippine Centennial!
